Ramon Llull’s Stairway of knowledge has eight steps, each one with a particular philosophical value. It symbolises a way of perfection, with eight ordered phases, classified in heirarchical order. Once successfully completed (“understood”), they should lead us to know God. Personally, I don’t aspire to finding God in a corner of my studio, neither do I seek to understand the perfect beauty of a spatial mathematical formula in each of the steps of the stairway, but I guess I would not say no to any of this, what I want is to create a sculpture. Something of beauty.
